Custom software development
The Splyce® family of products is an ongoing development project for the development staff of SPLYCE. Development of Splyce® software has required us to build a solid knowledge base of hands on experience in such areas as the Windows API, TCP/IP, HTTP and XML, Serial communications, ISAPI, DLL and Service applications, SQL-92, and intuitive GUI design.
However, we continue to use its software building skills to serve its customers in other ways. Every year a number of development projects are contracted and undertaken by this very same team. Custom programming endeavors divide into three categories: Enhancements, Contract Programming and Reports.
Enhancements include any project which extends or directly builds on products already developed by Splyce. They may or may not be included as a part of an existing suite, but their purpose is to tailor or extend functionality relating to installed SPLYCE products. In this way they further or 'enhance' a system to better accommodate the business practices of our clients. They are not limited to, but are often, applications deployed at the corporate level. Good examples would be interpretive programs which translate data created and transported by the Splyce® POS systems into file structures for Payroll, Inventory Control, GL and AP, or cross-platform communications. Other examples include specialized data presentation and interfaces to third party hardware and software.
Contract Programming covers applications that are not directly related to existing SPLYCE products. Examples could include dynamic and static website development, website management, intranet application development, wide-area communication and data synchronization, data-to-hardware communication, general database storage and interface, and 'you-think-of-it-we'll-figure-it-out'.
Crystal Reports is the reporting tool the Splyce® software is built around, and we have developed a robust portfolio of reports. At client request, development is not limited to reports about Splyce software data, and can access any data types handled by Crystal Reports directly, or through ODBC and ADO*. Since the Splyce® are external, rather than embedded, in the applications, report projects can be completed in days rather than months, and require only the deployment of report files to be fully functional in the field.
Custom Accounting Interfaces
Within any industry, competitors and compatriots alike will differ in their best practices. While there are standards of theory, there is diversity in implementation. It is not surprising then that the accounting requirements of any business will also vary from the establishment right next door. The Splyce® Corporate Office transports and creates a significant amount of business data intended for your accounting system. We have written many different file interfaces for General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Bank Reconciliation and Inventory accounting modules. We have written interfaces that bridge the gap between operating systems. We have built them for different file concepts and even created methods to bring data from your accounting system into Splyce®. When possible we leverage existing interfaces on your behalf, or, if needed, we will work closely with your vendor/consultant to insure the construction and quality of the data meets the details of your specific implementation.
